This is one of those rare books, like the Lords of Discipline by Conroy, that evokes a range of emotion in me. While certain passages make the reader laugh out loud, others create a wistful sort of sorrow.
This is the story of two fly-fishing brothers and a youthful summer together in the Rocky Mountains of Montana. Its a poignant story of family and the struggle to understand those we should know the best. It reminds us that, for all the complicated ways we try to help our siblings, perhaps the most effective and purest form is just to love them, and let them know that through our presence. An excellent book that is worth owning in hardback, to be reread from time to time.
